Hustisya, an advocacy group of victims and the families of victims of human rights abuses in the Philippines, released a press statement concerning the war crimes against New People’s Army member, and victim of human rights abuses as a past organizer for BAYAN, by members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines:
We, Victims United for Justice (Hustisya) pay tribute to the life of Arman Arbarillo, a victim of human rights violation turned freedom fighter in the New People’s Army. He was killed together with ten of his comrades in an encounter with the Armed Forces of the Philippines on June 30, 2012 in San Narciso, Quezon.
Arman’s parents Expedito and Manuela, both members of Bayan Muna were killed by suspected elements of the 204th Infantry Brigade of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) then led by Ret. Maj. Gen. Jovito Palparan Jr. His youngest sister Adeliza heard the gunshots and later found her parents’ lifeless bodies.
After being killed Arman’s body was repeatedly shot by members of the AFP after his death and then paraded around the town he was killed in by dragging his body so all of the villagers would see. The desecration of his body and the intimidation of local villagers are contrary to numerous domestic and international humanitarian laws and laws of war.
