Anakbayan, a progressive national democratic and pro-people comprehensive youth organization, released a press statement regarding the recent murder of urban poor activist Ernesto Gulo (also known as “Ka Erning):

“Ka Erning’s active involvement in the struggle against urban poor demolition is the real motive behind his murder.”

This was the statement of Anakbayan, organization of young workers, out-of-school and community youth, as it joined hundreds of residents of Sitio 6, Brgy. Catmon, Malabon led by Alyansa ng Nagkakaisang Samahan ng Maralita sa Malabon and Alyansa Kontra Demolisyon in an indignation protest at the Malabon City Hall, Friday afternoon.

Ernesto “Ka Erning” Gulfo is the 8th urban poor who became a victim of extrajudicial killing under the Aquino administration.
